I highly recommend Excel Martial Arts in Port Coquitlam - my kids have been going there for a few years now and loving it, starting in the youngest group, and progressing to older group. Over these years it’s been so exciting to see them develop and grow there not just physically but mentally as well. I like how they focus on all aspects: technique, planning, strength, respect, self defence, control, and focus. They teach kids leadership skills and teamwork too. Being their best selves and trying their best. They see all the kids in class and cheer their progress. They never discriminate. I find It has a very healthy and easy atmosphere. The teachers are amazing, and the administrative staff is always nice and approachable. They care about the kids there, and I feel like they know about the actual needs of the families of the kids too. Thus, they provide afterschool care, and have proper hours summer camps (not just the ones where kids come for an hour or two to have fun, but the ones where the families have the child looked after when they need to work, and have them properly exercised, exhausted, and entertained the whole work day). We love date night movie nights too, where once a month they invite kids on a Friday night for an evening of martial arts, a movie and pizza, and us grown ups get a proper us-time for 3 hours. I’m happy we found them when we did, and I only have good things to say about them.

I have been taking my daughter here for over 4 years and I highly recommend Excel Martial Arts in Port Coquitlam to anyone looking for a top-tier martial arts school. The instructors are exceptional—knowledgeable, attentive, firm if needed (after the beginners level) and are always willing to work with each student to help them succeed. Their approach ensures that every student feels supported and motivated, regardless of skill level.

Mrs. Davidson and Mr. Mac are incredible owners who are both understanding and hands-on. They truly care about the growth and development of every student and make it a priority to foster a positive and encouraging environment for all. Their dedication to the students, the community and the studio is evident in everything they do.

In addition to martial arts skills, Excel Martial Arts instills important life lessons, including discipline, structure, and a strong work ethic—qualities that will benefit your child both in and outside of the dojo. Excel Martial Arts goes above and beyond for the community!

We recently partnered with Excel Martial Arts Port Coquitlam for a Minecraft Movie Night fundraiser, and we couldn’t be more grateful. They hosted a fun, well organized evening for the kids and helped us raise $1,440 for our school’s PAC. Just incredible!

The event was so much more than just a movie. The kids got to play games, try out some martial arts moves, and enjoy pizza and chips. It was the perfect mix of fun, activity, and community spirit. The EMA team went above and beyond to create a safe, exciting, and welcoming environment for everyone.

What really stood out was their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for the community. EMA regularly opens their doors to local organizations, offering monthly movie nights to support different causes. It’s rare to find a business that gives back so consistently and with such heart.

Thank you to the whole team at Excel Martial Arts Port Coquitlam for making a real difference for our school and for many others, too!

We are so grateful for the amazing Summer Break program at Excel Martial Arts! Our son, Sadra, had an absolutely fantastic experience filled with fun, discipline, learning, and friendship. Very impressed by their friendly staff! They were organized, welcoming, created such an encouraging vibe throughout the party! Other than cake and a couple of snack (which turned out to be unnecessary), I didn't really have to bring anything else. Exactly how I wanted the party to be-- nicely decorated，well- organized and hassle-free. 👍👍👍

This is our first year sign up with Excel for Summer camp for my son. I like that they have different activities weekly that keep things interested for my 9 yo. One week they have Lego theme nd they even give out a Lego set for my son which made him very happy. This week they have Water Splash theme that they took kids out to different pools, park and even at the Co-op Otter water park at Langley.

The owners also very nice and easy talk to. Highly recommended.

EMA offers excellent service and has proven to be extremely efficient adapting to the changing environment. During the hardest months of COVID, they kept my kids active, engaged and looking forward to class all done remotely. The after school program gives parents the ability to have childcare while the kids not only learn physical skills, but many other aspects of discipline, respect, leadership, kindness, etc. I absolutely recommend Excel to anyone looking for a family oriented place.
